PROCEDURES OF TEACHING

During my actual teaching, usually I’ll ask one of the student to lead us pray as the first step of preparation. Then, to warm up the class atmosphere I’ll ask them how are they today by saying “How are you today Philippines’s young leaders ?” I prefer to use “Philliphine’syoung leaders” because I want to remind and motivate them that they’re the next generation who’ll take care of their country. And usually the students will respond it with full of spirit and cheerfulness by saying “I’m fine maam” , some of them saying “tired” as the act to express how they feel today, because my class is the last subject, so that’s why I try to warm up the class, to bring back their mood and spirit so they can learn easily.

After I warmed up the class atmosphere, I’ll open my laptop to present my slide presentation. But, before I start my short lecture about the topic through slide presentation, I’ll open the topic by giving them simple analogy or question that related to the topic and their daily life so they can understand it easily. Then I’ll started my lesson with a short lecturer to explain the topic in general and recite the objectives of the class today, during my lecturer sometimes I’ll ask their opinion about the topic to ensure that they’re already understand with my previous lecturer. And after finished with lecturer and discussion, I’ll let them ask a question regarding the topic that I’ve been explained.

After the students understand with the topic in general, I’ll split them into several groups. Each groups will have different topics to be discussed. Usually I’ll give them 10-15 minutes to discuss about the topic. Then I’ll ask them to deliver their discussion’s result in front of their friends less than 5 minutes. Sometime I’ll give them task to identify something, or even a role-play. But the preparation time for role-play much more longer than preparation time for discussion and identifying activities. I prefer to use role-play as my teaching method because from that activity the students will learn how to deal with real life situation which one of the K12’s purpose and sometimes at the end of group activities I’ll give some Indonesia’s souvenirs to the group who have the best performance to motivate them to do their best and make the group activity even more prestigious.

Then, I’ll show them several videos that related to the topic and also some videos that give a little touch of Indonesia, so the students can have more perspectives towards the topic. And after the video played, I’ll ask them several questions about the previous videos and let them to ask if they have something to ask.

At the end of the class, usually I’ll make a conclusion about what they’ve learn today by asking them what they’ve learned today, or even ask the students to write down in a paper what they’ve learned and if there any comments and suggestion for my performance. I choose that method because I think that by writing it in a paper, it’ll accommodate those students who are shy and also let the students to express more about what they’ve learned.

To end up the class, I’ll ask them to pick up any trash in the class and throw it in a trash can and ask them to turn off any electricity stuff like fans, lamps. Then I’ll ask one of the student to lead us pray before we go home and last but not least is greeting.
